EOY paperwork for SAFE in HERALD5 – 2024-25
Hello, dear SAFE families!
Can you believe the school year is almost over? This is a friendly reminder that your SAFE paperwork is due to me in May.
Paperwork for SENIORS is due MAY 25.
Paperwork for all other students earning high school credit is due MAY 31.
By “paperwork” I mean that you will turn in the “Course of Study” sheet that you filled out at the beginning of the year. I’ve attached a Course of Study sheet, but you will actually turn in the same Course of Study sheet that you filled out and turned in at the beginning of the year (that you kept a copy of) but this time with the “Numerical Grade” column filled in.
For any grades reported from a resource center or other outside teacher, I need a report from that teacher that includes the name of the student, the name of the course, and the numerical grade. If your student has taken any dual enrollment courses, I will need a printout of the grades from the college included with your paperwork. If the college does not report numerical grades, your student can email the professor asking to confirm the numerical grade, and then forward that email to me. Be sure the email has the student name, the course name, and the numerical grade.
If you are claiming honors credit for any course, you must fill out an Honors Worksheet for each course you are claiming honors for and send it in with your paperwork. I’ve attached a PDF of the Honors Worksheet and also an Excel spreadsheet which has several pages of Honors Worksheets in it. Please let me know if you have any questions about whether or not something will count as honors. If you have any doubt, reach out to me now.
If a course has not been completed by the due date, to avoid the $25 late fee, you should submit the paperwork with “INC” in place of the grade. Submit the final grade when the course has been completed, or on the following year’s worksheet. NOTE: If worksheets are submitted with “INC”s in core courses, your student will be given a 2.0 GPA for the purposes of the SAFE ranking report. This is for ranking purposes ONLY and will NOT affect the GPA on your student’s transcript.
You cannot submit an INC for any course you want to claim “honors credit” for, though. NO honors credit can be awarded for any course that was completed after the due date.
If you do not turn in any paperwork by the due date, you will be assessed a $25 fee per student, and your student will be given a 2.0 GPA for the purposes of the SAFE ranking report.
You may email me the paperwork (one email per family, please, unless one of your students is a senior), with ALL the necessary paperwork included in that one email, or mail it to me at 6 Stonewall Court, Irmo, SC 29063. If emailing, please put the following in the subject line of your email:
Student last name, student first name – grades 2024-25
For example, my email subject line would be “Bailey, Miles – grades 2024-25”. If you have multiple students, it would look like this: “Bailey, Miles; George; Sammie; Mabel – grades 2024-25” (that would be my subject line if I were grading some of my pets as well as my son).
NOTE: Please do not put 2024-2025 – put 2024-25.
It really helps when I have to do a search for all 2024-25 grades. Thank you in advance!!
Please let me know if you have any questions. And unless you only have a senior, please be sure to attend the meeting on May 6th at 6:30 at Riverbend Community Church, 1015 Corley Mill Rd, Lexington!
I pray that this year has been enriching, fulfilling, and productive for you and for all of your precious students!!
In His Grace,
Beth Ann Bailey
