FAQ

No. HERALD5 is a support group for homeschooling families of the Midlands of South Carolina, based on Christian values and a desire to honor God in our homes and community. Membership can be used as a way to network with other like-minded homeschooling families and provide field trips and activities for your students, but HERALD5 is not a legal accountability entity as outlined in the SC Code of Laws. You will need to join a supervisory/accountability association to legally homeschool in the state. SAFE in HERALD5 is one such accountability organization that is affiliated with HERALD5, but there are many others in South Carolina. Use the SCHEA website for a list of accountability groups.

If you are new to our organization, we recommend you begin by contacting our New Member Leadership Team Member. Once you are in our system, you may renew your membership each year via our online application process.

We require our members to complete one volunteer job per school year. The options are many but include activities such as planning a field trip, teaching a seminar, serving on our activities planning committee, and handling administrative tasks such as emailing and mailing postcards for the group.

Contact one of the Leadership Team members who will get you on the right path.
